    Beloved Eugene Hayworth Moriarty of Santa Ana passed away at 91 years of age on March 2, 2011 due to complications from cancer. Eugene was the son of James Rickard Moriarty, a Vice President of Santa Fe Railroad, and Edna Hayworth. He was born on April 15, 1919 in Chicago, Illinois. He was a proud descendent of Tralee, Kerry, Ireland. He graduated from Fairfax High School in Los Angeles, California before attending the University of Maryland, where he enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserves. He then transferred to the University of Southern California School of Cinema. While attending the USC School of Cinema he was called to active duty. He was first sent to Quantico, where he was an integral part of creating effective training films for the Marine Corps. Following, he honorably served in World War II on the aircraft carrier “The Block Island” throughout the Asiatic-Pacific theatre. He was Chairman of the Board of BOMI improving the curriculum for the RPA exam, President of the Santa Ana Bicentennial Committee in 1976, dedicated member of the Navy League, lecturer at USC School of Cinema, valued employee and family member of CJ Segerstrom & Sons from 1963 to time of death, and notably made a hole-in-one at Tustin Ranch Golf Course in 1991. Without question, he lived his life fully.
