The cause of the blast is under investigation. Homeland security said "all indicators" point to a natural gas leak as the likely cause. Because the house where the explosion occurred was unoccupied all day, there wouldn't have been anyone home to smell the leaking gas.

More than 200 residents were evacuated. Some residents are being allowed back in on a limited basis to retrieve personal items. So far, 27 homes have been ruled uninhabitable.
