Four Lightning make first-team All-Academy League

Sage Hill School junior forward Nikolai Sadeghi highlights one of four Lightning players who received first-team All-Academy League laurels in boys’ soccer.

Sadeghi recorded 25 goals and 13 assists, ranking him third in both categories Orange County.

Sage Hill (15-2-2, 10-1-1 in league), which placed second in league for the third straight time, saw senior goalkeeper Adam Ellingson, senior center back Will Burns and senior forward Kavi Sakraney earn first-team recognition. The Lightning advanced to the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division 6 playoffs.

Ellingson, a repeat first-team selection, didn’t allow a goal in 14 of the 19 matches he played. He only gave up nine goals.

Burns, a two-time first-team pick, helped the Lightning post eight shutouts.

Sakraney finished with nine goals and three assists.

Sage Hill senior Danny Lee, senior Dakshin Jandhyala and junior Gordon Strelow are second-team picks.

The Academy League named St. Margaret’s Owen Smith as its MVP.
