CYPRESS — Nic Sargeant had 27 points, 10 rebounds and five steals for the Sailors in a semifinal of the Oxford Academy tournament Friday.

The Sailors play for the championship Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Corona del Mar 1, Aliso Niguel 0

SANTA ANA — Senior Sabrina Roy chipped a through ball from Leah Givant over the goalkeeper in the 6th minute for the difference in the final pool-play contest of the Mater Dei Premier Invitational on Friday.

Senior goalie Kendall Mulvaney had 10 saves to preserve the shutout against the No. 1-ranked team in CIF Southern Section Division 1.

CdM (2-1-2) did not make it out of the pool. The Sea Kings return to action on Dec. 27 when they face Charter Oak at Corona Roosevelt High in the North Orange County Classic.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Estancia 3, Canyon 1

Sophomore Kevin Pizarro had two goals and an assist to help the host Eagles claim the pool-play opener of the Sunny Hills North Orange County Classic on Friday at Estancia.

Pizarro, who has eight goals in seven games, opened the scoring in the 20th minute on an assist from Christian Munroy.

Chris Moya converted a Pizarro assist in the 25th minute and after Canyon scored on a penalty kick, Pizarro finished on an Abraham Cortez assist to lift the Eagles to 5-1-1.

Enrique Valle made two saves for Estancia, which had 12 shots.

The Eagles have two pool-play games today, also at home, against Western (11 a.m.) and Pioneer (5 p.m.).

Corona del Mar 1, Tesoro 0

LAS FLORES — Jake Kim scored off an assist from Daniel McCabe in the 60th minute of the nonleague game Friday.

Tommy Casey made five saves in goal for CdM (3-2-2). Jay Damon and Nate Pozin also stood out on defense.

Offensive opportunities were created in the second half by Mason Garell, Liam Stimpson and John O’Connor.

CdM plays at JSerra on Monday at 5 p.m.

WRESTLING

Mann Classic

ORANGE — Corona del Mar High’s David Kaye, Chris Croxton and Kaden Ebbinga advanced Friday to the second day of the 68-team event hosted by Servite High at Santiago Canyon Community College.

Kaye, a sophomore 113-pounder, won all of his matches Friday to reach Saturday’s quarterfinals.

Croxton, a senior 126-pounder, was also undefeated on his way to the quarterfinals. He is 13-2 this season.

Ebbinga, a senior won four of five matches, falling for the first time this season to the top-seeded competitor in his weight class, to advance to the medal round. Ebbinga is now 17-1.

Ed Spring Classic

BREA — Newport Harbor High seniors James Pilz (160-pound division) and Evan Perez (170) qualified for the second day and will compete Saturday.

Pilz and Perez will be in the consolation rounds.
