CORONADO — Rachel Whitelegge had three goals and two steals for the Sailors in their season opener on the road Saturday.

Ellie Reid had two goals and two steals, while Chanel Schilling had a goal and four steals for Newport Harbor. Carlee Kapana had seven saves and two steals, while Kate Yasko and Sammie Garcia scored one goal each.

Newport Harbor, ranked No. 4 in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 preseason poll, plays Long Beach Wilson on Tuesday at Belmont Plaza.

Battle by the Bay tournament

Newport Harbor High finished second after 4-1 in the dual-meet tourney and were also led by senior champion Dominic Kosecki (128-pound weight class).

The Sailors also had individual placers juniors Alain Ward (115), Dominic Komadina (140), Harrison Reich (154) and sophomore Drew Dobbs (195) who each finished second.

Seniors Carlos Lopez (147) and Ryan Birt (182), junior David Santos (222) and sophomores Michael Craft (108), Ryan Sanson (122) both finished third.
