BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Costa Mesa 70, Fountain Valley 56

SANTA ANA — Sean Comer had 14 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals and Mason Tufuga added 15 points and 12 rebounds for the Mustangs in the quarterfinals of the Godinez tournament on Thursday at Godinez High.

Nabeel Salameh contributed 17 points and nine rebounds for the Mustangs, who will face either Laguna Beach or Capistrano Valley in the semifinals Friday at 6:15 at Godinez.

Sage Hill 49, Tarbut V’ Torah 38

GARDEN GROVE — Tyler Hague had 11 points and six rebounds for the Lightning in their final pool-play game of the Spartan Classic on Thursday at Orangewood Academy.

Krishan Tarsadia had eight points for Sage Hill (3-1), while Cameron Hall had seven points and six rebounds.

The Lightning play for third place in the tournament at 7 p.m. Saturday at Orangewood Academy, against a to-be-determined opponent.

El Dorado 64, Newport Harbor 63

ANAHEIM — The Sailors suffered their first loss, despite 20 points and nine rebounds from senior Nic Sargeant in gold bracket action at the Godinez tournament at Loara High on Thursday.

Joey Farris had 15 points for the Sailors (2-1).

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Estancia 60, El Modena 43

Senior Celia Duran had 26 points to lead the Eagles in the semifinals of the Corona del Mar Tip-Off Tournament on Thursday at CdM High.

Junior Slade Garnett had nine points and five steals, sophomore Maya Van Den Heever had eight points and seven assists, and senior Bryanna Vernon added nine points, all on three-pointers, to propel the Eagles (3-0) into Saturday’s 7 p.m. title game at Northwood High.

Estancia will face the winner of Friday’s semifinal between Westminster and Tesoro.

Newport Harbor 36, Dana Hills 25

Senior Jennifer Lopez had 21 points, nine rebounds and four assists to lead the Sailors in the Corona del Mar High Tip-Off Tournament at CdM High on Thursday.

Junior Kendra Mungula had nine rebounds for the Tars (3-1), who outscored the Dolphins, 13-2, in the third quarter to erase a 17-14 halftime deficit. Lopez had eight points, including two of her three three-pointers, to lead the third-quarter surge.

Newport Harbor closes out the tournament against Mission Viejo on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Northwood High.

Corona del Mar 43, Segerstrom 27

Senior Keaton Gaughan and sophomore Natalia Bruening had 14 points apiece to lead the Sea Kings in the fifth-place semifinal of the Corona del Mar Tip-Off Tournament on Thursday at CdM High.

The 6-foot-3 Bruening had four blocked shots, while 6-2 sophomore Krista Anderson chipped in 10 points and five blocks for the winners (2-1).

CdM plays an opponent to be determined for fifth place on Saturday at 4 p.m. at Northwood High.
