Haley Flores added a goal.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Sage Hill 49, St. Paul 39

GARDEN GROVE — Junior forward Tyler Hague finished with 19 points for the Lightning in the first round of the Orangewood Academy Tournament on Tuesday.

Jack Williamson had eight points for Sage Hill (2-0).

The Lightning (2-0) face City of Industry Workman in the second round on Wednesday at 8 p.m.

Costa Mesa 69, Cypress 59

ANAHIEM — Senior point guard Sean Comer finished with 20 points, six assists and three steals for the Mustangs in the opening round of the Loara-Godinez tournament at Loara High on Tuesday.

Daniel Azurin had 17 points, while Mason Tafuga chipped in 14 points and eight rebounds for Costa Mesa (1-0).

The Mustangs play San Juan Hills on Wednesday at 3:15 p.m. at Loara High.

Estancia 54, Capistrano Valley Christian 32

Josh Mendoza scored 32 points to lead Estancia to its season-opening win in pool play of the Garden-Grove-Los Amigos tournament Monday.

Connor Brown had eight points and Gunnar Johnston added seven points for Estancia (1-0), which plays against Rancho Alamitos Wednesday in pool play.

Newport Harbor 63, Santa Ana 40

SANTA ANA — Nic Sargeant had 14 points and 14 rebounds for the Sailors in a pool-play game at the Godinez tournament Monday.

Garrett Davis scored 20 points for the Sailors, who play against Laguna Hills in a pool-play game Wednesday at 7:45 p.m.
