Sage Hill def. Arrowhead Christian

Junior outside hitter Halland McKenna recorded 13 kills and eight service aces as the top-seeded Lightning swept, 25-14, 25-14, 25-13, in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 3-A playoffs at home on Tuesday.

Sage Hill (22-5), the Academy League co-league champion, plays San Dimas (12-7) in the second round on Thursday at 7 p.m. A coin flip on Wednesday determines the home team.

San Dimas, the Valle Vista League champion, defeated Rialto Carter, 25-18, 20-25, 25-23, 18-25, 15-9, in its playoff opener.

Juliette Singarella finished with eight kills, three blocks and two aces for the Lightning.

Sage Hill’s Maddy Abbott amassed 27 assists, two kills and two aces, while Claudia Noto had eight digs.

Corona del Mar def. Peninsula

Junior outside hitter Hayley Hodson produced 15 kills for the host third-seeded Sea Kings in a 25-13, 25-18, 25-12 sweep in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 1-AA playoffs on Tuesday.

CdM (24-5), the Pacific Coast League champion, advances to the second round to face Long Beach Wilson (25-8) on Thursday at 7 p.m. A coin flip on Wednesday determines the home team.

Long Beach Wilson, the second-place team from the Moore League, defeated Los Angeles Notre Dame Academy, 25-23, 25-21, 20-25, 20-25, 15-13, in the first round.

CdM’s Katie Craig had 12 kills and Samantha Jones added five kills.

Great Oak def. Newport Harbor

TEMECULA — Host Temecula Great Oak swept the Sailors, 25-13, 27-25, 25-12, in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 1-AA playoffs on Tuesday.

Carolyn Bockrath led Newport Harbor (12-18) with 17 kills and Remy Wilson had five kills.

Aliso Niguel def. Estancia

ALISO VIEJO — Senior middle blocker Abby Griffith finished with seven kills in the Eagles’ CIF Southern Section Division 1-A first-round playoff match that host Aliso Niguel won, 25-14, 25-6, 25-9, on Tuesday.

Lehua Alama-Jordan had five kills and Dominique Kemp four services aces for Estancia (9-17).
