High School Roundup: Mesa edges Godinez in girls’ volleyball

Costa Mesa def. Godinez

Cat Kricorian finished with 13 kills and 15 digs and Lisa Perlin added 12 kills and 15 digs to help lead the Mustangs to a 25-17, 15-25, 20-25, 25-14, 15-11 Orange Coast League win Tuesday.

Stephanie Willett (10 kills, seven blocks), Kintak Keju (45 assists), Karina Cruz (39 digs) and Brenna Alvis (19 digs) also contributed for Costa Mesa (5-3 in league).

Corona del Mar def. University

Payton Carter led the Sea Kings with 11 digs in CdM’s 25-17, 25-15, 25-21 Pacific Coast League win Tuesday.

Sam Jones and Jessie Harris had six kills each for the Sea Kings (18-3, 8-0 in league).

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Corona del Mar 17, Northwood 1

The Sea Kings swept in doubles and clinched outright second place in league in the Pacific Coast League finale Monday at home.

Riley Gerdau and Siena Sharf won, 6-2, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 1 doubles, while the No. 2 team of Taylor Fogarty and Camellia Edalat won, 6-1, 6-2, 7-6. Shelby Anderson teamed with both Erica Chen and Emily Fujita to also sweep at No. 3 doubles for CdM (15-5, 8-2 in league).

CdM’s Danielle Willson and Jasie Dunk both swept in singles, and Elena Fish won once before being subbed out.

CdM, ranked No. 4 in CIF Southern Section Division 1, competes at the PCL individuals tournament beginning Wednesday.

BOYS’ WATER POLO

Corona del Mar 21, University 6

Ashton Jajonie, Tamir Avital and Brendan Hack scored four goals each for the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League game Tuesday.

Jack Barden and Garrett Spruth scored two goals each for CdM.
