FULLERTON — Jennifer Martin scored a goal and recorded an assist for the Lions in the Golden State Athletic Conference game Tuesday.

Makenna Yarbor and Rayven Hernandez also scored for Vanguard (14-2-1, 7-2 in conference).

Cypress 1, Orange Coast 0

Pirates goalie Karsen Camarena had seven saves in the Orange Empire Conference game on Tuesday at OCC.

The Pirates had 10 of the game’s 22 shots, but the Chargers (11-1-4, 8-1-3 in conference), ranked No. 8 in the state, found the net in the first half and held on.

OCC fell to 7-7-2, 5-6-1.

UC Irvine 4, Cal State Northridge 3 (OT)

UC Irvine senior Laura McGrail scored twice and added an assist for the host Anteaters in the Big West Conference game Sunday.

McGrail’s second goal came in the 76th minute to forge a 3-3 tie that forced the game into overtime.

In the 109th minute, Tatyana Garrett, who also had two goals, converted a combined assist from Clarissa Robles and Alex Karlowitsch for the game-winner as UCI improved to 6-8-3, 2-3-1 in conference.

Robles had two assists for the winners, for whom Jenn Randazzo had seven saves.

The Matadors are 7-10-2, 4-3.

MEN’S SOCCER

Cal State Northridge 3, UC Irvine 0

NORTHRIDGE — The visiting Anteaters, who entered the week ranked No. 3, suffered their seconds loss of the week in the Big West Conference match on Saturday night.

The Matadors improved to 6-8-2, 2-4-1 in conference, while UCI fell to 11-3-2, 3-3-1.

UCI is tied with Cal State Fullerton atop the Big West South Division. The Anteaters visit the Titans at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

MEN’S WATER POLO

Long Beach State 8, UC Irvine 6

LONG BEACH — The No. 5-ranked 49ers edged the No. 10-ranked Anteaters in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation clash on Saturday.

Larson Pfeil had two goals to lead UCI (13-7, 1-3 in conference).

The 49ers are 14-3, 3-0.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

San Diego State def. UC Irvine

SAN DIEGO — The visiting Anteaters dropped the nonconference verdict, 25-19, 25-21, 27-25, on Monday to halt a five-match win streak.

Cassidy Pickrell lead UCI (15-8) with 11 kills and 10 digs, while Allison Lee had nine kills and four digs.

Shelley Anderson had 29 assists and Arden Davis had 11 digs for UCI, which hit .,143, it’s second-worst percentage of the season.

The Aztecs are 10-10.
