Turner, Levy to be inducted into Cal men’s volleyball Hall of Fame

Orange Coast College men’s volleyball coach Travis Turner and former Balboa Bay Volleyball Club player Jared Levy will be inducted into the Cal men’s volleyball club Hall of Fame on Saturday.

Turner, a 1992 graduate , was a setter who led the Golden Bears to consecutive club national championships as a junior and senior.

Prior to joining the Cal program, he led OCC to back-to-back state titles in 1989-90 and also helped Tustin High win a CIF Southern Section crown as a player in 1995.

Turner guided OCC to the California Community College Athletic Assn. title last spring and is the director of the Balboa Bay Club program. In seven seasons at OCC, the Pirates have advanced to the state final four each year and he has been named Pacific Coast Conference Coach of the Year four times.

Turner was also an assistant coach at UC Irvine from 1996 to 2000 and coached the Cal men’s team in 20001 and 2002.

Levy started for three seasons, playing middle blocker, outside hitter and opposite at Cal. He earned all-league distinction.

Levy is an entertainment lawyer who resides in Los Angeles.
