CdM polo to play for ‘Team Kimie’

Share

The Corona del Mar High boys’ water polo team will be honoring Kimie Metcalf at the Sea Kings’ Pacific Coast League game against Irvine on Tuesday at CdM.

CdM will be wearing orange caps in the game in honor of Kimie, a family friend of CdM Coach Barry O’Dea. She is legally blind in her right eye and has cerebral palsy. Kimie, now 9 years old, also was diagnosed with leukemia in 2010, but the cancer cells have been in remission for the past two years.

Earlier this year, Kimie was named the Orange County/Inland Empire Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Woman of the Year.

Snack bar proceeds and other donations at Tuesday’s CdM boys’ water polo game will go to help “Team Kimie.” This is the fourth straight year that CdM water polo will be supporting Kimie through this special event.
