Leigh Steinberg to speak at Newport Beach Library Tuesday night

Leigh Steinberg, one of the most famous and influential sports agents, will talk about his life and book Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Newport Beach Library.

The special library program has no reservations required and it will be on a first-come, first-seated basis.

Steinberg’s book, “The Agent: My 40-Year Career Making Deals and Changing the Game,” with Michael Arkush has been a New York Times Best Seller.

Steinberg recently held a sports agent academy at his office in Newport Beach to teach young aspiring agents.

Steinberg continues to work as a sports agent. He also has a radio show with Yahoo! and appears on various radio and TV sports talk shows to provide insight on many sports topics and issues.

He also has a column for the Daily Pilot.

Laird Hayes, an NFL referee and Newport Beach resident, is expected to welcome guests and introduce Steinberg. Hayes, who is in his 20th season with the NFL as a side judge, is a retired Orange Coast College professor. He continues to teach a surf class for OCC and he’s a Newport Beach City Parks, Beaches and Recreation commissioner.

He has worked on three Super Bowl crews.

Hayes worked at the Cincinnati Bengals game against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday and will be at Baltimore Sunday for the Ravens game against the Atlanta Falcons.
