Price’s Give ‘Em Five Intercollegiate

Las Cruces, NM — UC Irvine finished second at the New Mexico State Golf Course Wednesday.

The Anteaters shot a 295 on the final round with a 54-hole total of 872 (290-287-295). Portland State captured the title after shooting a 867 (291-288-288) behind the efforts of medalist A Ram Choi, who fired a five-under par 67 Wednesday to win the tournament with a score of 208 (68-73-67). Cal State Fullerton (881) was third, Nevada was fourth (885) and Idaho and Cincinnati tied for fifth (887).

Sophomore Luciane Lee (74-69-75) and senior Sara Banke (70-72-76) tied for eighth with a score of 218, while junior Michelle Yang was tied for 12th at 221 (73-73-75). Senior Ronnie Valerio was tied for 17th with a three-round score of 222 (73-77-72) and freshman Kaley In was tied for 37th at 227 (81-73-73).

UCI ends the fall schedule with a trip to the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown Oct. 27-29 held at Stallion Mountain Golf Club.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

Vanguard 2, San Diego Christian 1

Ashley McCutcheon scored the game-winner in the 83rd minute for the visiting Lions in the Golden State Athletic Conference match Wednesday.

Jennifer Martin assisted with corner kick that McCutcheon headed in.

Liliana Ruiz gave Vanguard (9-1-0, 2-1-0 in conference) a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute.

Goalie Lauren Terry made three saves for the Lions, ranked No. 6 in the NAIA.

San Diego Christian is 6-3-1, 0-2-1.

Goalie Luca Licciardi made eight saves for the visiting Lions in the Golden State Athletic Conference game Wednesday.

Vanguard (5-3-1, 1-1-1 in conference) and San Diego Christian (8-1-2, 1-0-2) tied for shots, 10-10.
