UCI adds Klingenberg to women’s basketball staff

Ashlee Klingenberg has been named director of operations for the UC Irvine women’s basketball program.

Klingenberg comes to UCI from Seattle University, where she served as an assistant to Coach Joan Bonvicini during the 2014-15 season. As a member of the Redhawks staff, she was responsible for scheduling, practice plans, film, alumni outreach as well as social media and camps.

In 2013, Klingenberg was named associate head coach at Santa Clarita Wilcox High, where the Chargers finished with a 23-3 record and lost in the semifinal round of the CIF state playoffs.

Prior to Wilcox, Klingenberg served as an assistant coach at San Jose Leland High.

Originally from Bakersfield, Calif., Klingenberg played at Liberty High, leading her team to three consecutive South Sequoia League championships as a two-time team captain.

She averaged 11.2 points per game and had 63 three-pointers for Bakersfield Community College, before her playing career was cut short due to injury.

She earned a business marketing degree from San Jose State in 2005.
