College Roundup: OCC’s Clayfield scores four goals

Alexa Clayfield had four goals and Amy Jensen made 12 saves to propel the host Pirates in the Orange Empire Conference game Wednesday.

OCC led, 4-0, after the first quarter and held on to improve to 6-6, 1-1 in conference.

Cypress is 5-10, 0-3.

LAS CRUSES, N.M. — UC Irvine sophomore Breanne Jones finished 19th and UCI was 10th as a team in the three-day event completed Wednesday at the New Mexico State Golf Course.

Jones’ 54-hole total was 223 to produce the first top-20 finish of her career. Her 10 birdies tied for the tournament lead.

UCI’s team score was 911, 52 shots behind victorious BYU.

Sophomore Camille Wagg (tied for 38th at 228), as well as sophomore Kelsey Kawaguchi and junior Samantha Chan (both tied for 49th at 232) also stood out for UCI.

The Anteaters close out the fall schedule at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown Oct. 25-27 at the Boulder Creek Golf Club.
