Key Sailors: Sr. QB Cole Norris (862 yards passing, 10 TDs, two INTs); Sr. WR/LB Keaton Cablay (27 catches for 342 yards and four TDs); Sr. RB/WR/LB Riley Gaddis (15 catches for 315 yards and five TDs); Sr. DE Brett Beaudette.

Breakdown: Norris needs just 81 yards passing to break the school career record of Shane Foley, who finished his career with 5,364 yards passing ... More importantly for the Sailors as a team, they want to break a three-game losing streak and head into Sunset League play with positive momentum ... Coach Jeff Brinkley said sophomore starting middle linebacker Cole Smith suffered a concussion last week against San Clemente and will miss Friday night’s game ... Gaddis and another sophomore, Gage Roberson, will see time at middle linebacker ... Brinkley said sophomore Cole Kinder will make his first varsity start at running back as senior Chance Siemonsma is out for the year ... Kinder rushed for 88 yards late in last week’s game ... Brinkley said Mira Costa, coming off a 35-14 loss at Torrance West last week, is a physical team but is passing the ball more this year ... The Mustangs are allowing 41.8 points per game but have played a tough schedule, including a 31-3 loss to Trabuco Hills, which is currently ranked No. 5 in the CIF Southern Section Southwest Division ... The Sailors have played nonleague games against Mira Costa every year since 2004, with each team winning five of those 10 meetings ... Mira Costa beat Newport Harbor, 33-21, last year behind 213 rushing yards and three scores from graduate Sebastian Franck-Love.
