College Roundup: UCI men’s cross-country team places ninth at Stanford Invitational

STANFORD — UC Irvine junior Isaiah Thompson finished 12th among 283 runners to help the Anteaters finish ninth in the 30-team field on Sunday.

Thompson completed the 8,000-meter course in 24 minutes, 08.9 seconds.

Izzak Mireles placed 66th in 25:03.5 for UCI.

Stanford’s Sean McGorty was the individual champion and Stanford won the team title.

The ‘Eaters return to action Oct. 17 for the Highlander Invitational at Riverside.

WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY

Stanford Invitational

STANFORD — Senior Courtney Sharar topped UC Irvine finishers on Sunday.

Sharar covered 6,000 meters in 23 minutes, 09.9 seconds to place 115th among 255 runners.

UCI was 21st as a team.

Next up for UCI is the Highlander Invitational at Riverside on Oct. 17.
