Breakdown: The Hornets, who have won two straight, are ranked No. 9 in the state and pose a serious challenge for the Pirates in the Southern Conference opener for both teams ... OCC earned its first win of the season, 38-8, over Moorpark last week ... OCC has lost the last five meetings by a combined 240-95 margin and Fullerton leads the series, 37-21-3 ... The 61 meetings against Fullerton rank second only to Santa Ana (64), for OCC ... The OCC defense has seven interceptions this season, including two each by cornerbacks Derrick Worthy (both returned for touchdowns) and Joseph Jackson, as well as one by safety Brandon Worthy ... Dossey, a bounce-back from Humboldt State, has completed 49 of 73 passes (67.1%), for six touchdowns with one interception ... Derrick has 18 receptions for 316 yards and four TDs ... Cushing and Hayden are the Pirates’ top two tacklers with 28 and 25, respectively ... The Hornets, who have defeated Cerritos and Mt. San Antonio (ranked No. 10 and No. 19 in the state, respectively), are surrendering 30 points per game ... OCC is allowing 27.7 points per game ...
