Senior captain Clay Davison had four goals for the Sailors in Saturday’s nonleague game at Newport Harbor High.

Jack Mooers and Nick Schroeder each scored twice for Newport Harbor, and Gavin Kunkle added a goal. Nick Wood made 13 saves.

The Sailors, ranked No. 7 in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 poll, fell to 2-6.

Newport Harbor plays in the South Coast Tournament beginning Thursday. The Sailors, seeded sixth in the 32-team tournament, open against Granite Hills at 5 p.m. Thursday at Newport Harbor High.

Woodbridge Invitational

IRVINE — Sage Hill finished 12th out of 20 teams in the white division on Friday night at Orange County Great Park.

Senior Patrick Hynes was 29th on the three-mile course, finishing in 16 minutes, 25 seconds. Senior Brian Slaughter (59th, 16:57), senior Alexis Michaca (62nd, 17:03), junior Calvin Shimano (70th, 17:22) and sophomore Matt Warden (78th, 17:26) also competed for the Lightning.

Sage Hill competes in an Academy League cluster meet Tuesday at Irvine’s Mason Park.

GIRLS’ CROSS COUNTRY

Woodbridge Invitational

IRVINE — Sage Hill finished 10th out of 25 schools in the white division on Friday night at Orange County Great Park.

Senior Brittany Andressoo finished 19th in 18:59, followed by sophomore teammate Julia Lowe in 20th in 19:01. Sophomore Julia Dupuis (60th, 20:20), senior Brittany Murphy (99th, 21:34) and senior Rebecca Fudge (100th, 21:39) rounded out the top five.

Coach Nate Miller said it was Sage’s fastest-ever team time at the Woodbridge Invitational.
