REDLANDS — No. 9-ranked UC Irvine earned a pair of lopsided victories on Sunday to improve to 8-0.

The Anteaters topped Pomona-Pitzer, 25-7, after trouncing Occidental, 25-7.

Bojan Hrlec had seven goals to pace UCI against Pomona-Pitzer, while Brock Ivancovich and Bo de Lange led 13 UCI scorers with three goals each against Oxy.

UCI visits Chapman Wednesday at 4 p.m., then ventures to Berkeley for the NorCal Tournament on Saturday and Sunday.

UC Irvine 1, Indiana 1

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — UC Irvine sophomore Mats Bjurman scored on a free kick in the 36th minute to erase a deficit and the host Hoosiers, the defending NCAA champions, held off the Anteaters in the nonconference game on Sunday.

UCI (3-1-2) posted a 16-4 shot advantage and Trey Hayes had a shot carom off the post to help the Hoosiers escape with a tie after two scoreless overtimes.

In addition, a defender cleared a rebound shot by UCI’s Thomas Janjigian in the late going.

Michael Breslin made one save for UCI, which surrendered a goal in the eighth minute.

The Anteaters play host to No. 14-ranked UCLA on Thursday at 7 p.m.

WOMEN’S GOLF

Minnesota Invitational

MINNEAPOLIS — UC Irvine sophomore Lucianne Lee finished tied for 30th and the Anteaters finished 11th among 12 teams at the two-day tournament completed on Tuesday.

Lee (237) was 21 over par over 56 holes, while Junior Michelle Yang (238) finished tied for 37th and Sara Banke (241) tied for 42nd.

UCI shot 963 as a team, 99 over par and 61 shots off the pace of victorious Kent State.
