Senior Eli Sperling scored the game-winning penalty shot with 18 seconds left to lift the Eagles in their nonleague season opener Wednesday.

Senior Aaron Will drew the penalty shot for Estancia, while goalie John Leal made a last-second stop to preserve the victory.

Sophomore Jason Chesemore and junior Chris DeFrenza each scored three goals to lead the Eagles.

Logan Grove had 10 kills, five aces and five digs to help lead the Sailors to a 25-17, 25-14, 25-13 nonleague win Wednesday.

Ellie Hagadorn had 29 assists, two aces and five digs, Jaclyn Brown added seven kills, two blocks and two aces and Gabby Shelly had three aces and five digs for Newport Harbor (1-1).

Alyaa Abdulghany shot four-under-par 32, a bogey-free round with four birdies, to earn medalist honors for the Sea Kings Wednesday at El Niguel Country Club.
