UC Irvine women's water polo recruit Mary Brooks will represent the United States in the FINA World Youth Championship, Aug. 24-31 in Madrid, Spain.

Brooks, a four-time All-CIF performer at Clovis West High, helped the U.S. junior national team win the UANA Junior Pan Am Championship in early July in Riverside.

The Americans won all six of their matches in Riverside, including an 11-6 triumph over Brazil in the final. Brooks scored once in the title contest and had nine goals in the tournament.

Brooks, an attacker, set school records at Clovis West for career goals (415), assists (181) and steals (319) and helped the school claim a CIF central section title in 2013.

In Spain, Team USA faces Hungary (Aug. 25), South Africa (Aug. 26) and Germany (Aug. 27) in preliminary rounds. The elimination rounds begin Aug. 29 and the championship is set to be decided Aug. 31.
