Mike Wilder, who played four seasons of men’s basketball at UC Irvine from 2009 through 2013, has been named director of administration for the UCI men’s basketball program.

Wilder, whose 224 three-point field goals are No. 3 in UCI career annals, played in 126 games as an Anteater. He ranks 14th at the school in career rebounds (596) and assists (272) and he ranks 22nd in scoring with 1,082 points.

Wilder, a second-team All-Big West Conference performer as a junior, played professionally in Spain last year.

Wilder will oversee video operations, monitor player academics, maintain the recruiting database, work with donor and alumni outreach, and coordinate the boys’ basketball summer camp program.

“I am very blessed and excited for the opportunity to come back and be a part of the program that I poured my heart and soul into as a player,” Wilder said. “We are in a great position to do great things, not only this year but for years to come and I’m ready to continue to help contribute to the success of the program and the university.”

UCI Coach Russell Turner said he is happy to be adding such a “well-known, well-liked and quality person” to the staff.

Ryan Schlaich, in his second year with the UCI staff, will become director of operations. Schlaich takes over for Mike Lenahan, who is now an assistant coach at Whitman College in Walla Walla, Wash.
