Baseball: Surf City Sharks to play in Super Regional All-Star Tournament

The Huntington Beach-based Surf City Baseball Club, which features a group of Newport-Mesa area players, has advanced to the Colt 16U Super Regional All-Star Tournament that starts Friday in Whittier.

The Surf City Sharks advanced out of the Region 2 tournament in Glendora.

The majority of the Sharks are 13 and 14-year-olds, said Coach Dave Rodriguez.

The Newport-Mesa area players are: Noah Amenta, Isaac Campbell, Chase Hanson, Payton Jefferson, Carson Letterman, Eric Martinez, Joseph Romero, Connor Sandford, Matty Weiss and James Williams.

The Sharks went 7-3-1 in Glendora.
