Gilchrist, Musselman win Kirishi Cup with U.S. women’s water polo team

The U.S. women’s water polo senior national team, that includes Kaleigh Gilchrist and Maddie Musselman, won the 2014 Kirishi Cup, capping an undefeated week of action with a 6-5 victory over the Netherlands Sunday in Kirishi, Russia.

Team USA defeated Hungary, Russia, Italy and the Netherlands along with a tie against Spain in the five-day competition.

Gilchrist, a former Newport Harbor High standout, recently graduated from USC. She scored a goal as the U.S. defeated host Russia, 10-6, on Wednesday

Gilchrist and Musselman, a Corona del Mar High junior-to-be, both had goals on Tuesday as Team USA beat Hungary, 13-10.
