NHBA summer baseball camps coming

The Newport Harbor Baseball Assn. has two upcoming camps at Newport Harbor High, from Monday through July 9 and July 13-16, for players ages 6 through 11.

Each camp is an introduction to baseball, with an emphasis on basic skills, good fundamentals, sportsmanship and fun. The program is designed to challenge players with their hitting, fielding and individual skills, as well as experiment at new positions.

Newport Harbor High Coach Evan Chalmers is the camp director. Two of his assistants, John Christensen and Ryan Mathes, are involved with the camp.

The cost for each camp is $125 per player and it includes a T-shirt and snacks. Both the Monday through July 9 and July 13-16 camps run from 9 a.m. to noon. Players should bring a glove, hat, baseball pants and sunscreen, and label their equipment.
