The AYSO Region 97 (Corona del Mar) girls' Under 10 Spring Select team captured the Area Q league title recently.

The CdM girls were 4-1 in Spring Select play, scoring 18 goals and allowing eight. The goal total was almost twice as many as any of the other teams in the division.

The team consisted of Bianca Bays, Logan Bray, Kiley Gugasian, Kate Kittleson, Madeleine Luer, Alexis Rabold, Rylen Schmid, Jasmine Smith, Emily Valentine and Olivia Young. The girls were coached by Mark Valentine and John Schmid.

They started matches strong and finished even more stout. Some of the young ladies — Schmid, Valentine and Young — were also on the team that was undefeated in fall recreation league, seizing the Region 57 championship and then the fall Area Q runner-up spot.

Area Q is comprised of regions from Corona del Mar, Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, Tustin, North and South Irvine, as well as Yorba Linda.
