CdM’s McKeown, Franson on first team

Corona del Mar High senior Sydney McKeown and sophomore Brooke Franson have earned first-team All-Pacific Coast League honors for softball.

McKeown, a left-handed hitter and pitcher, is a three-time selection on the first team. CdM’s leadoff hitter who is bound for Ole Miss, McKeown hit a team- and league-best .583 and scored a team-best 20 runs, adding five runs batted in. Her 14 stolen bases were second on the team. In the circle she had a 6.52 earned-run average, and struck out a league-best 117 batters in 118 innings.

Franson, a third baseman, hit .552 and led the Sea Kings with 27 RBIs. She had team-best totals of seven doubles and three triples, as well as CdM’s only home run, on her way to slugging a league-best .827. She also led the Sea Kings with 18 stolen bases.

CdM finished 5-19, 0-10 in league.

CdM sophomore catcher and shortstop Lauren Oberreiter earned second-team All-Pacific Coast League accolades.

Beckman senior shortstop Jessica Kim earned league MVP honors.
