Reynolds, Hinkle, Delgado, Diaz on first team

Estancia High senior Rachelle Reynolds and junior Kelly Hinkle, as well as Costa Mesa seniors Nicki Delgado and Maria Diaz, have each earned first-team All-Orange Coast League honors for softball.

Reynolds, a first baseman bound for Orange Coast College, led Estancia with a .523 batting average, seven home runs and 30 runs batted in. Reynolds, a repeat first-team selection, also had seven triples and finished the year with a .635 on-base percentage.

Hinkle, a pitcher, hit .382 with 19 RBIs for the Eagles (12-11). She also had a team-best 10 doubles. In the circle, she pitched every game, finishing with a 12-11 record and 4.79 earned-run average.

The two players helped Estancia finish 5-5 in league, tied for third. The Eagles made it to the CIF Southern Section Division 5 playoffs for the first time in four years, losing on the road to Calvary Murrieta, 15-0, in the wild-card round.

Delgado, a pitcher and third baseman for Costa Mesa, was third on the Mustangs with a .381 batting average and drove in a team-best 20 runs. She also led Costa Mesa with 10 doubles while compiling a 7.76 ERA as pitcher.

Diaz, a center fielder, led Mesa with a .517 batting average. She scored 17 runs, tying for the team lead, and led Mesa with nine stolen bases as well.

The Mustangs finished 4-16, 2-8 in league, good for fifth place.

Estancia junior catcher Bryanna Vernon earned second-team all-league accolades, as did Costa Mesa senior infielder Dulce Gomez.

Calvary Chapel senior Melanie Coyne earned league MVP honors, and Godinez senior Dolores Portillo was named Most Valuable Pitcher.
