Girls’ Lacrosse: Kline honored as Co-MVP of Pacific Coast League

Corona del Mar High senior Kacie Kline earned Co-MVP honors after helping the CdM girls’ lacrosse team share the Pacific Coast League title with Beckman.

Kline’s senior teammates and co-captains Sabrina Smith, Kendall Mulvaney and Jamie Smith, as well as sophomore Payton Carter, all earned first-team all-league accolades.

Kline led CdM (16-5, 9-1 in league) with 76 goals, and her 29 assists were second on the squad. She helped the Sea Kings share the league title for the second time in three years and, as the No. 6 seed, advance to the semifinals of the U.S. Lacrosse Southern Section South Division playoffs. CdM upset No. 3 Foothill in the quarterfinals before bowing out to Los Alamitos, 16-9.

Sabrina Smith scored 44 goals, third on the team, and led the Sea Kings with 71 draw controls. Her 19 assists ranked third on CdM.

Kendall Mulvaney had 21 goals and a team-best 51 assists. Her 36 ground balls were second among CdM players.

Carter emerged to score 58 goals and control 47 draws, both second on the squad. Her 60 ground balls led CdM.

CdM juniors Paige Nelson and Emily Schwartz, as well as freshman Kennedy Mulvaney, earned second-team all-league honors. Freshman Jensen Coop was an honorable mention.
