Girls’ Lacrosse: CdM’s Coop, Nelson, Mulvaney stand out

Corona del Mar High junior Paige Nelson and sophomores Jensen Coop and Kennedy Mulvaney have all earned first-team All-Pacific Coast League honors for girls’ lacrosse.

Nelson was third on the team with 31 goals and had a team-best 28 assists for CdM (10-7, 7-3 in league), which finished tied for second in league with Woodbridge, behind league champion Beckman. The No. 6-seeded Sea Kings advanced to the quarterfinals of the U.S. Lacrosse Southern Section South Division playoffs before falling at No. 3 Los Alamitos, 11-9.

Coop led CdM with 50 goals and also had a team-best 66 draw controls. She was also a second-team All-Orange County selection, as chosen by the Orange County chapter of U.S. Lacrosse.

Mulvaney, who has committed to Fresno State, had 34 goals and 25 assists, both second on the team. She also had 63 draw controls and team-best totals of 49 ground balls and 23 caused turnovers.

Senior co-captain Mason Bendetti and senior Brooke Beyrooty, as well as junior Kennedy McGuinness, were second-team all-league selections for CdM. Bendetti had 29 goals and McGuinness scored 20 while Beyrooty, a defender, had 19 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers.

Senior co-captain Megan Rieden and sophomores Katie McCabe, Katherine Mulvaney and Hailey Neumann were honorable mention all-league selections.
