Men’s Track & Field: UCI’s Sicard eliminated in NCAA semifinal

EUGENE, Ore.— UC Irvine sophomore Lloyd Sicard was eliminated in the semifinals of the men’s 110-meter high hurdles at the NCAA Track & Field Championships at the University of Oregon on Wednesday.

The 2015 Big West Conference champion finished sixth in his heat and 17th overall with a time of 13.75 seconds, which did not qualify him for Friday’s final.

He was the program’s first representative at the NCAA Championships since 2012, when Charles Jock won the 800.

Sicard broke his own school record with a time of 13.60 seconds in placing second at the NCAA West Preliminary Round in Austin, Texas on May 30. The time was the second-fastest among 24 semifinal qualifiers.

Sicard won the Big West Conference title in the 110 hurdles at Riverside May 16. He finished first in the event in four meets this season and was named Big West Athlete of the Week three times.
