Baseball: Locals make All-Orange Coast League

Estancia High senior Jason Rodriguez and sophomore Connor Brown each received first-team All-Orange Coast League laurels in baseball, along with Costa Mesa sophomore Grady Conner.

Rodriguez and Brown led Estancia (9-16, 7-8 in league) to a fourth-place finish in league, while Conner helped Costa Mesa (7-18, 3-12) claim fifth in league.

Rodriguez, an outfielder, hit .396 with 17 runs batted in, nine doubles and 14 runs.

Brown, a third baseman, batted .390 with 20 RBIs, seven doubles, one triple and 11 runs.

As a pitcher, Brown had a 3-4 record with a 2.57 earned-run average. He threw three complete games.

Conner, a shortstop, batted .400 with 13 RBIs, four doubles, two triples and 16 runs. He finished with a .500 on-base percentage.

Estancia senior outfielder Jackson Letterman and junior first baseman Aaron Boaitey are second-team picks, as are Costa Mesa senior Connor Howard, a pitcher and first baseman, and senior outfielder Alex Jimenez.

Laguna Beach senior Richie Nunis was named the Orange Coast League MVP.
