Women’s Water Polo: Locals help Team USA win gold

Kaleigh Gilchrist and Maddie Musselman scored one goal each to help lead the USA women’s senior national water polo team win gold at the Kunshan Cup in Kunshan, China with a 18-9 victory over the Netherlands on Saturday.

Gilchrist is a former Newport Harbor standout and Musselman is a former Corona del Mar star.

It was the second straight victory over the Dutch this week for Team USA which won all four of its matches at the event.

Team USA now prepares for the FINA World League Super Final starting Tuesday in Shanghai.

An official roster for Team USA at the FINA World League Super Final will be announced prior to the competition beginning.
