Tennis: VU’s All-American trio

Vanguard University men’s tennis standouts Stefan Kilchhofer, Roger Muri and Fabio Silva have been named first-team NAIA All-Americans.

Kilchhofer, a junior from Switzerland, Muri, a senior from Switzerland, and Silva, a junior from Brazil, helped the Lions reach the NAIA semifinals and finish 27-2 and win the program’s third straight Golden State Athletic Conference title.

Kilchhofer, a three-time first-team honoree, was 24-0 in singles, primarily in the No. 1 spot. and has only been beaten once in his Vanguard career. He was 16-7 in doubles in 2015.

Muri, a four-time first-team All-American, compiled a 25-1 singles record, primarily in the No. 3 spot this season. He was 23-5 in doubles.

Silva, in his first season at Vanguard after transferring from Fresno Pacific, was 23-3 in singles, primarily in the No. 2 spot. He was 12-0 against GSAC singles foes and posted a 19-8 doubles record for the season.
