FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — UC Irvine junior Itos Aikhionbare finished 16th in the discus throw on Friday.

Her mark of 166 feet, four inches failed to crack the top 12, who advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., June 11-14.

Aikhionbare was named Big West Field Athlete of the Year this season after winning conference titles in the shot put and discus, and setting school records in both events.

NCAA West Preliminaries

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — UC Irvine freshman Lloyd Sicard qualified Friday for Saturday’s 100-meter high hurdles semifinals.

The Big West Conference Freshman of the Year finished fourth in his heat with a time of 14.20 seconds to earn one of the 24 spots in the semifinals.

Saturday’s semifinals begin at 5:05 p.m. at John McDonnell Field with the top 12 finishers qualifying for the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., June 11-14.

UCI senior James Douglas had a time of 14.71 seconds in Friday’s prelims and did not advance.
