Women’s Water Polo: Musselman nets game-winner

Corona del Mar High sophomore Maddie Musselman scored the game-winning goal in a shootout as the United States senior national women’s water polo team edged Canada, 12-11, on Thursday night at the FINA Intercontinental Tournament at Riverside City College.

With the victory, Team USA won Group A. The Americans play the fourth-place team from Group B, Venezuela, on Friday night at 6 p.m.

Team USA won the shootout, 3-2. Newport Harbor High product and recent USC graduate Kaleigh Gilchrist also netted a goal in the shootout, part of a team-high four goals.
