Orange Coast League finals

Estancia High’s Brandi White was league champion in the 100-yard backstroke as the Eagles finished second as a team Thursday at Costa Mesa High.

White won the back in 1:02.84. She was also second in the 200 individual medley, in 2:21.73.

Eagles senior Nikkie Blinn was fifth in both the 50 free (27.84) and 100 breast (1:18.64).

White will compete Thursday in the CIF Southern Section Division 3 preliminaries at Riverside City College.

BOYS’ SWIMMING

Orange Coast League finals

The Estancia High boys’ swim team finished sixth at league finals Thursday at Costa Mesa High.

The Eagles had several swimmers in consolation finals. Chris Defrenza was eighth in both the 200-yard individual medley (2:24.24) and 100 backstroke (1:06.87).

Jason Chesemore was eighth in the 100 free (54.61) and 12th in the 50 free (25.57). Kyle Fitzgerald was 11th in the 50 free (25.51).

Other Eagles competing included Mario Mendez (12th in the 100 free), Eli Sperling (12th in the 500 free) and William O’Dell (11th in the 100 back).

Sunset League finals

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Newport Harbor High’s Reese Stalder reached the title match in singles, but lost to Riley Smith of Los Alamitos, 4-6, 6-7 (5-7), Thursday at Marina.

Stalder was the top seed and Smith was the No. 2. Stalder, who dropped to 43-3, advanced to CIF Individuals May 29.

Stalder beat No. 4 seed Max Cancilla of Marina in the semifinals, 2-6, 6-4, 10-8.
