HUNTINGTON BEACH — Cole Pender had 16 kills to help lead the Sailors to a 23-25, 21-25, 28-26, 25-20, 15-8 Sunset League win Tuesday.

Grady Kimme had 15 kills and Spencer Lawrence added 10 kills for Newport Harbor (7-11, 2-2 in league).

Corona del Mar def. Beckman

IRVINE — Ryan Moss had 11 kills and three blocks to help lead the Sea Kings to a 25-16, 25-16, 25-16 Pacific Coast League win Tuesday.

Dan Kobrine had 10 kills and three aces for CdM (15-4, 5-0 in league), which plays in the two-day Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions, starting Friday.

BOYS’ GOLF

Corona del Mar 193, Northwood 200

IRVINE — Tyler See earned medalist honors for the Sea Kings after shooting even-par 35 at Oak Creek Golf Club in the Pacific Coast League match Tuesday.

Ian Fletcher (36), Grant Nutt (39), Ethan Wien (41) and John Hong (42) also scored for CdM (3-2 in league).

Newport Harbor 194, Fountain Valley 211

FOUNTAIN VALLEY — Sailors senior Luke Shea earned his first medal of the season after shooting one-over-par 37 at Mile Square Golf Course on Tuesday.

Landon Knight (38), Noah Mayne (39), Richie Simons (40) and Parker Young (40) also scored for Newport Harbor (4-3, 2-2 in league).

BASEBALL

Irvine 4, Corona del Mar 3

Nick Premer went three for four for the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League game Tuesday.

Brenden Heuston was two for three for CdM (11-6, 3-3 in league).

Evan Larsen pitched a complete game in the loss, striking out four and giving up seven hits.

Irvine overcame a 3-1 deficit with two runs in the sixth. The Vaqueros (1-5 in league) loaded the bases in the eighth and scored after a batter was hit by a pitch, and held on for the win.

CdM plays at Irvine Friday at 3:30 p.m.

BOYS’ SWIMMING

Newport Harbor 116, Huntington Beach 52

Senior Dominik Folkner won twice for the Sailors in Tuesday’s Sunset League meet at Newport Harbor High.

Folkner won the 50-yard freestyle in 21.45 seconds, and the 100 free in 47.10.

The Sailors are 3-0 in league.

BOYS’ TENNIS

Northwood 12, Corona del Mar 6

IRVINE — Bjorn Hoffmann swept in singles for the Sea Kings in Tuesday’s Pacific Coast League road match.

CdM is 6-6, 2-3 in league.

Sage Hill 14, Whitney 4

Omead Moini, Kenan Torlic and Adam Langevin helped Sage Hill sweep in singles in Monday’s Academy League match at The Tennis Club.

Sage Hill, ranked No. 5 in CIF Southern Section Division 2, improved to 5-0 in league.

The Lightning play at No. 9-ranked Crean Lutheran on Monday in a first-place showdown.

Newport Harbor 16, Edison 2

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Reese Stalder stayed undefeated as he swept at No. 1 singles for the Sailors in the Sunset League match on Monday.

Ryan Young and Sam Leaman swept at No. 1 doubles, David Schaefer and Andy Myers swept at No. 3 doubles and Gavin Leonard swept at No. 3 singles for Newport Harbor (12-2, 3-1 in league).

SOFTBALL

Calvary Chapel 16, Estancia 3

Estancia lost its Orange Coast League opener Tuesday at TeWinkle Park.

Estancia (8-5) plays host to cross-town rival Costa Mesa on Thursday.
