Andrew Martinez put UCI on the scoreboard in the first, driving in Mikey Duarte, who laced his 15th double of the season to lead off the game.

It was Mitchell Holland’s turn to belt a double as the first baseman hit the first pitch he saw to the left-field wall to score Jonathan Munoz and Martinez, who were both issued free passes by starter Cody Thompson.

Long Beach State 5, UC Irvine 0

The host Anteaters had their 15-game winning streak snapped in the finale of a three-game Big West Conference series on Sunday.

Junior shortstop Mikey Duarte went two for four to lead the five-hit attack for UCI (21-11, 8-1 in conference), which left eight runners on base.

Senior Evan Manarino allowed five hits and three runs (two earned) in six innings to absorb his first loss in four decisions this season.

Chris Mattewson pitched eight shutout innings for the Dirtbags (19-12, 5-4).
