CdM takes third at Champions Invitational

INDIO — Hale Furey finished fourth and Chase Furey was tied for eighth to help lead the Corona del Mar High boys’ golf team to a third-place finish at the Champions Invitational that ended Saturday at the Golf Club at Terra Lago.

CdM tied for second with Los Angeles Loyola at 928 and took third after a card-off. Servite won the two-day, 54-hole tournament, that featured 40 schools, at one stroke lower, 927.

Hale Furey shot 74-74-74—222, while Chase Furey shot 75-71-78—224. Karick Brown (74-78-89—241), John Hong (84-80-87—251), Drew Hanson (82-75-86—243) also scored for CdM. Ian Fletcher played as an alternate and scored well, 78-77-75—230.

Will Zalatoris of Trinity Christian in Plano, Texas won eight-under-par 208 with 67-66-75.
