High School Roundup: Estancia softball earns 18-12 win over Los Amigos

Estancia 18, Los Amigos 12

FOUNTAIN VALLEY — Maya Van Den Heever and Kelena Shepherd hit home runs for the Eagles in Tuesday’s nonleague game on the road.

Felicia Rios had a triple and a single and scored five runs, while Gianna Guyot had a double and four runs scored.

Estancia is 8-3.

GIRLS’ LACROSSE

Corona del Mar 17, University 5

Kennedy McGuiness scored five goals for the Sea Kings in Monday’s Pacific Coast League game at CdM.

Jensen Coop had four goals and nine draw controls for CdM (4-3, 2-1 in league). Kennedy Mulvaney scored twice, and Katherine Mulvaney was given the game ball for her defensive leadership, interceptions and transitions, CdM Coach Aly Simons said.

CdM plays at Beckman in a key game Wednesday at 4 p.m.

BASEBALL

Edison 4, Newport Harbor 3

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Ryan Scott delivered a walk-off RBI single for the Chargers to end the game in the 11th inning in the Sunset League game Tuesday.

The Sailors (6-6, 0-3 in league) rallied from a 2-0 deficit with three runs in the third inning. Christian Watson connected for two runs with a double, one of 12 hits for the Sailors.

Edison tied the game in the fourth inning.

Luke Genova pitched 6 1/3 innings in relief and took the loss. Jeremiah Sheldon went three for five and Sean Korkmaz went three for six with a double and RBI for Newport Harbor, which suffered its second straight loss in extra innings.

The Sailors will play at Fountain Valley Thursday at 3:15 p.m.

Beckman 11, Corona del Mar 5

Teddy Stuka went three for four with two runs batted in and a double for the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League game Tuesday.

Nick Premer was one for four with an RBI and JT Schwartz was one for four with two runs and an RBI for CdM.

The Sea Kings (6-5, 2-2 in league) play host to Northwood Thursday at 3:30 p.m.

BOYS’ LACROSSE

Corona del Mar 15, St. Viator of Illinois 0

Senior Noah Howe (two groundballs) and junior Stephen Von Der Ahe (one groundball) scored three goals each for the Sea Kings on Tuesday.

Seniors Max Kline (two groundballs) and Sherwin Gersten (one groundball) scored two goals each, while junior Jordan Greenhall added four assists and one goal for CdM (7-0).

Junior Jason Simaan (one goal, one groundball) won 10 faceoffs

Seniors Brett Greenlee (one groundball, one assist) and Chad Redfearn and junior Nick Yi (one groundball) scored one goal each.

Senior Hoyt Crance and junior Nick Guizen made one save each.

Sophomore Jordan Pakzad had four groundballs, senior Brian Leguay had three and senior Ryan Brown had two.

CdM plays at Torrey Pines on Friday.

Corona del Mar def. Woodbridge

Sam Kobrine had 11 kills to help lead the Sea Kings to a 25-18, 25-9, 25-18 Pacific Coast League win Tuesday.

Ryan Moss added seven kills for CdM (13-4, 3-0 in league.
