High School Roundup BASEBALL: CdM’s Larsen tosses three-hitter

Junior Evan Larsen improved to 4-1, pitching a complete game three-hitter for the Sea Kings in Friday’s Pacific Coast League game at Corona del Mar High.

Larsen struck out seven for the Sea Kings (6-4, 2-1 in league). Nick Premer was two for three with a double and two runs batted in, and JT Schwartz had two runs scored and an RBI.

CdM is tied for first place in league with Woodbridge and Beckman. The Sea Kings, ranked No. 4 in CIF Southern Section Division 3, play at the No. 3-ranked Patriots on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.

Sage Hill 9,

Brethren Christian 2

Michael Helton was two for two with two runs batted in for the Lightning in Friday’s Academy League game at Sage Hill.

Brett Super had an RBI double, Jack Pelc an RBI single and Kellen Ochi added a two-run single for Sage Hill (7-6, 2-0 in league).

Connor Bock got the win, allowing two runs and four hits over four innings. He walked one and struck out four.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

IRVINE — Augie Miller had 10 kills, three solo blocks, three block assists and three aces in CdM’s 25-13, 25-19, 25-21 Pacific Coast League sweep Friday at Irvine High.

Ryan Moss had seven kills, three block assists and two aces for CdM (12-4, 2-0 in league). Will Hunter had five kills and two block assists, Finn Jeffery tallied four kills and one block and Matt Ctvrtlik had 14 assists and three aces.

CdM, ranked No. 4 in CIF Southern Section Division 1, plays host to Woodbridge on Tuesday.

INDIO — Corona del Mar High junior Ian Fletcher shot 77 and 77 on two 18-hole courses to pace the Sea Kings on the first day of the two-day event that concludes with 18 holes today at Golf Club at Terra Lago.

Ethan Wien (84-79), Garrett Wayne (86-83), JohnMichael Jurgensen (82-87) and John Hong (83-86) are also competing for CdM, which is among 47 schools at the event.

Sage Hill 14,

St. Margaret’s 4

Adam Langevin swept at No. 1 singles for the Lightning in Friday’s Academy League match at The Tennis Club.

Kenan Torlic and Omead Moini each won twice before being subbed out for Sage Hill (4-2, 2-0 in league).

Four different doubles parings won two sets each for Sage Hill, ranked No. 4 in CIF Southern Section Division 2.

BOYS’ TRACK AND FIELD

Academy League meet

IRVINE — Sage Hill finished second to Crean Lutheran in the six-team meet Thursday at Crean Lutheran High.

Junior Chance Kuehnel broke his own school record in the 110-meter hurdles (15.7 seconds), and also won the high jump (6 foot) and long jump (19 feet, 91/2 inches).

C.J. McCord won the 400 meters in 52.3 seconds, Jack Renton won the 200 in 24.08 and Alex Escalera won the pole vault by clearing 11 feet.

Nima Nakhjavani, Renton, Kuehnel and McCord teamed to win the 4x100 relay in 44.7 seconds.

GIRLS’ TRACK AND FIELD

Academy League meet

IRVINE — Sage Hill finished sixth in the six-team meet Thursday at Crean Lutheran High.

Julia Lowe (3,200 meters in 13 minutes, 2.3 seconds) was the Lightning’s lone event winner.
