Vanguard softball swept in doubleheader

Host Vanguard University dropped a pair of nonconference games Thursday, falling to Simpson, 2-1, in the eight-inning first game, and 8-1 in Game 2.

Brittney Boggs hit a solo home run and Breanne Gomez was two for three to lead the Lions’ four-hit attack in the opener.

In the second game, Taylor Hallahan, Taylor Wilson and Shelby Kuryllo were all two for four was Vanguard (29-9) managed eight hits.

Simpson is 23-11.
