High School Roundup: DeBarros stands out at Triton Invitational

SAN CLEMENTE — Newport Harbor High senior Marcel DeBarros finished second in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in a time of 41.55 seconds to lead the Sailors on Saturday at San Clemente High.

DeBarros was fifth in the 110 high hurdles (16.02).

Senior Will Fortier was fourth in the shot put (52 feet, 9 inches) and fifth in the discus throw (150-0), while junior Stephen Mantei was fourth in the discus (151-4) for the Tars.

Senior Rory Fleming was third in the 300 hurdles with a personal-record of 42.45.

The Sailors play host to Huntington Beach in a Sunset League dual meet on Thursday.

Triton Invitational

SAN CLEMENTE — Newport Harbor sophomore Grace Clemence took third in the pole vault with a clearance of 10 feet in the open division Saturday.

Sailors sophomore Rachelle A La Torre finished third in the discus (102-8) and shotput (33-6).
