High School Roundup: Uta medals in Estancia boys’ golf win

BOYS’ GOLF

Estancia 190, Brethren Christian 252

Kobi Uta shot even-par 35, with three birdies, to earn medalist honors for Estancia in the nonleague match at Costa Mesa Country Club’s Mesa Linda course Wednesday.

Brad Ehrhorn (36), Davon Ortiz (38), Gunnar Johnston (39) and Parker Ohland (42) also scored for Estancia (3-4).

Newport Harbor 198, Foothill 200

The Sailors’ Brad Tapfer was co-medalist with a one-over-par 37 in the nonleague match Wednesday at Santa Ana Country Club.

Mason Moody and Landon Knight (both 38), Thomas Terry (41) and Ryan Standt (44) also scored for the Sailors (4-1).

BOYS’ LACROSSE

Corona del Mar 16, Fort Collins 3

Juniors Noah Howe (three assists) and Niño Chavez (two assists) scored four goals each for the Sea Kings in the nonleague game Wednesday at CdM.

Sophomores Jordan Greenhall (four assists) and Stephen Von Der Ahe, and junior Ben Palitz scored two goals each for CdM (3-0).

Sophomore Jason Simaan won 13 faceoffs, and junior Hoyt Crance led with six saves. Senior Daniel McCabe, as well as juniors Hugh Crance and Brett Greenlee stood out on defense for the Sea Kings, who play at San Clemente Friday at 7 p.m.

BOYS’ TENNIS

Sage Hill 14, JSerra 4

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO — The Lightning won eight of nine doubles sets in Wednesday’s nonleague match on the road.

Eric Magliarditi and Omeed Moini swept at No. 1 doubles, as did David Kim and Gordon Strelow at No. 2 doubles. Han Chin and Grant Janavs won two of three.

Freshman Adam Langevin swept at No. 1 singles for the Lightning (3-3), who host The Prep Classic tournament Friday and Saturday at The Tennis Club Newport Beach. Oaks Christian, Windward Academy and Mater Dei are the other schools participating.

GIRLS’ LACROSSE

Chadwick 13, Sage Hill 7

Claudia Noto led the Lightning (2-5) with three goals in the nonleague game Wednesday.
