Rowing: NAC boys take home So Cal Men’s League points trophy

The Newport Aquatic Center varsity and novice boys’ teams captured 15 gold medals in its respective races, earning the Southern California Men’s League points trophy for the strongest boys’ team showing at the Southern California League Cup regatta at Long Beach Marine Stadium this past weekend.

The NAC boys’ teams’ most notable performance was the Varsity 8 defeating last year’s national champion, Long Beach Junior Crew, by 12 seconds.

The NAC varsity and novice girls captured nine gold medals, most notably winning in the Varsity 8, and Novice “A” entry.

The Southern California League is comprised of seven teams, and has produced several national champion crews since its fruition.

The NAC boys’ Varsity 8 included: coxswain Ethan Ruiz, Alex Lobel, Max Clemence, Patrick Klingensmith, Austin Moore, Angus Batstone, Harrison Grant, Jack Dole and Micah Adehlson.

The NAC girls’ Varsity 8 included: coxswain Annabelle Brigandi, Rylee Gladych, Alyx Golan, Kate Hunter, Maggie Osumi, Gretchen Shoenbacher, Eden Heit, Jenna Garland and Katie Conway
