Junior Christopher Goul went one for three with two runs batted in for the Lightning in a nonleague game on Tuesday.

Jack Pelc had a double and an RBI for Sage Hill (3-1).

Brett Super earned his second win of the season after going five innings. He allowed one earned run.

Parker Reposa got the save after striking out two in one inning.

The Lightning play host to Saddleback Valley Christian on Friday at 3:15 p.m.

Northwood 1, Newport Harbor 0

IRVINE — Junior Liam Ogburn pitched a three-hitter with one walk and an unearned run in the Sailors’ road game in the Foothill Pool of the Newport Elks Tournament on Monday.

Newport Harbor’s Connor Seabold went two for three.

Tk McWhertor had a hit for the Sailors (2-1).

Newport Harbor resumes tournament play at home Wednesday against La Habra at 3 p.m.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Corona del Mar def. Edison

Junior outside Ryan Moss finished with nine kills and two blocks in the Sea Kings’ 25-16, 25-9, 25-20 season-opening win at home on Tuesday.

Joey Martino had five kills, three blocks and five digs for CdM.

Augie Miller had six kills and Kevin Fults added five kills.

The Sea Kings, ranked No. 5 in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 coaches’ poll, competes at the Best of the West tournament, starting on Friday against Hawaii ‘Iolani at Alliant International University in San Diego at 3 p.m.

Foothill def. Newport Harbor

Clay Carr had 12 kills for the Sailors, who lost the nonleague match, 25-21, 25-17, 25-15, Tuesday.

Davis Hanscomb had 22 assists, Wyatt Walton had five kills and Max Gamboa had nine digs for Newport Harbor (0-2).

BOYS’ TENNIS

Corona del Mar 12, Fountain Valley 6

FOUNTAIN VALLEY — Bjorn Hoffmann swept in singles for the Sea Kings in Tuesday’s nonleague match on the road.

Ryan Andrews and Jonny Rhone each won twice in singles, and Carson Williams won three sets of doubles partnering with Josh Kliger and Dan LaBruna.

CdM (3-1) plays host to Mira Costa on Thursday.

GIRLS’ LACROSSE

Mater Dei 15, Corona del Mar 7

SANTA ANA — Kacie Kline produced three goals for the Sea Kings in Tuesday’s nonleague road game.

Sabrina Smith, Kendall Mulvaney, Payton Carter and Jaime Smith each had a goal for CdM.

Goalie Kate Allen made nine saves.

Tesoro 15, Newport Harbor 6

LAS FLORES — Kole Escher and Alex Fuller had two goals apiece in the Sailors’ nonleague road game on Tuesday.

Lindsey Troupe, Eli Gutierrez and PJ Steiner each played well for Newport Harbor.

BOYS’ GOLF

Aliso Niguel Tournament

ALISO VIEJO — Karick Brown and Ian Fletcher took first place to help Corona del Mar High win the event for the second straight year Monday at Aliso Viejo Country Club.

Playing in a two-man, scramble format, Brown and Fletcher shot a combined 10-under-par 62.

CdM’s Hale and Chase Furey shot 64 to tie for second place.

Drew Hanson and John Hong shot 65 for the Sea King to take fourth out of 11 teams.

Dana Hills took second at 197 and Mission Viejo and San Clemente tied for third at 199.

Huntington Beach 194, Newport Harbor 201

Senior Brad Tapfer shot a two-over-par 38 for the Sailors in a Sunset League opener at Big Canyon Country Club on Tuesday.

Newport Harbor’s next four finishers were Thomas Terry (39), Mason Moody (40), Landon Knight (41) and Conner Davison (43).

Huntington Beach’s Conner Hurst was the medalist.

The Sailors (2-1, 0-1 in league) play host to Aliso Niguel at Big Canyon Country Club Thursday at 3 p.m.

Tustin 232, Costa Mesa 258

Michael Hutchinson was medalist, shooting a six-over-par 41 for the Mustangs in Monday’s nonleague match at Costa Mesa Country Club’s Mesa Linda course.

Costa Mesa is 0-2.
