BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Costa Mesa def. Ocean View

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Junior opposite Mason Tufuga had 18 kills, 10 assists, six service aces and four blocks for the Mustangs in Tuesday’s nonleague match.

Costa Mesa swept, 25-19, 26-24, 25-17.

Nick Warner had seven kills and 10 digs for Costa Mesa (4-1), which plays host to Leuzinger on Thursday at 5 p.m.

Estancia def. Bolsa Grande

Liam Jason and Kaena McReynolds helped lead the Eagles to a 21-25, 25-22, 23-25, 26-24, 15-3 nonleague win Monday.

Estancia next plays host to Tustin on Thursday.

GIRLS’ LACROSSE

Corona del Mar 9, Aliso Niguel 8

ALISO VIEJO — Freshman goalie Ashley Olson made nine saves for the Sea Kings in Tuesday’s nonleague road win.

Sophomore Kennedy Mulvaney led CdM with three goals, while Katie McCabe, Courtney Johnston, Paige Nelson, Kennedy McGuinness, Mason Bendetti and Julia Martin also scored.

Brooke Beyrooty and Katherine Mulvaney led the defensive effort for CdM (3-1), which plays host to Mater Dei on Thursday.

BOYS’ SWIMMING

Costa Mesa 93, Katella 72

The Mustangs won all three relays in the nonleague dual meet Tuesday at Costa Mesa High.

Jorge Miranda, Nick Ly, Angel Rosado and Blake Hudson combined to win the 200-yard medley relay in 1 minute, 57.64 seconds. Raymond Andrade, Rosado, Augustus Cunninghom and Jacob Petersen won the 200 free relay in 1:39.97, and Petersen, Andrade, Cunningham and Ly won the 400 free relay in 3:41.62.

Rosado was a double-event winner for the Mustangs in the 200 IM (2:19.25) and the 100 butterfly (59.87). Cunningham won the 200 freestyle (2:00.59), Miranda won the 50 free in 24.40, Petersen won the 100 free in 54.22 and August Akerstrom captured the 500 free in 5:35.08.

Ly won the breaststroke in 1:10.85 for Costa Mesa, which opens the Orange Coast League at rival Estancia on March 25.

Estancia 85, Rancho Alamitos 64

GARDEN GROVE — Cobi White won two events and was on two victorious relay teams for the Eagles in the nonleague meet Tuesday.

White won the 200-yard individual medley (2 minutes, 23.41 seconds) and 100 breaststroke (1:11.16).

Jason Chesemore won the 100 free (56.44), Ken Lim won the 50 free (25.77), Eli Sperling won the 500 free (6:26.22) and Chris DeFrenza won the 100 back (1:09.81) for Estancia.

GIRLS’ SWIMMING

Costa Mesa 89, Katella 67

Senior Yessenia Villa won both distance freestyle events for the Mustangs in Tuesday’s nonleague dual meet.

Villa won the 200-yard freestyle in 2 minutes, 23.46 seconds. She also captured the 500 free in 6:16.45. Other individual event winners included Cialee Enslow in the 50 free (30.23 seconds), Karlee Kistler in the 100 butterfly (1:25.29), Kendra Ferguson in the 100 free (1:08.50) and Bridgette Smitheram in the 100 backstroke (1:11.47).

Costa Mesa also won all three relays. Smitheram, Sarah Catania, Kistler and Villa won the 200 medley relay in 2:16.71, while Enslow, Emily Ly, Kistler and Tia Gordon won the 200 free relay in 2:09.17., Villa, Ly, Enslow and Smitheram won the 400 free relay in 4:31.04.

The Mustangs race at rival Estancia on March 25.

BOYS’ TENNIS

Corona del Mar 14, Fountain Valley 4

Junior Bjorn Hoffmann, who has recently committed to Cal, swept in singles for CdM in Tuesday’s nonleague match at home.

Jacob Cooper won twice in singles for the Sea Kings (2-2), who also won eight of nine doubles sets.

CdM plays at Mira Costa on Thursday.

Sage Hill 14, Fairmont Prep 4

ANAHEIM — The Lightning swept in doubles in Tuesday’s nonleague match at Fairmont Prep.

The teams of Grant Janavs and Han Chin, Williams Sanderson and Kian Eledali, as well as Ashwin Dharme and Ash Etedali, all swept for Sage Hill (1-1).

Calvin Brown won twice in singles for the the Lightning, who play host to Mater Dei on Thursday.

Newport Harbor 18, Estancia 0

The Sailors swept in doubles and did not drop a game in the nonleague match at Estancia Monday.

The doubles teams of David Scheafer and Andy Myers; Ayan Young and March Scheafer; Sam Leeman and David Sharpe swept for Newport Harbor (3-0), which plays at San Juan Hills on Thursday.

SOFTBALL

Estancia 16, Bolsa Grande 6

Felicia Rios hit two for two with a double and a walk for the Eagles in the nonleague game Tuesday.

Estancia improved to 2-2.

BASEBALL

Corona del Mar 3, Katella 2

Tedy Stuka, who went one for three, drove in the game-winning run for the Sea Kings in the Newport Elks Tournament game Monday.

JT Schwartz went two for three with a run and run batted in and produced the game-tying hit. Evan Larsen was one for three with a double and RBI. Chazz Martinez, who pitched five innnings for his first win of the season, was one for two with a double. Tommy Poletti pitched two innings for the save.

CdM (3-0) plays host to Tustin Wednesday at 3 p.m.

Newport Harbor 8, University 5

Logan Mahaffy had a triple and three RBIs for the Sailors in the Newport Elks Tournament game Monday.

Jeremiah Sheldon pitched five scoreless innings and gave up one hit for Newport Harbor (4-1).

Rigsby Duncan and Sheldon (three runs) two hits each for the Sailors, who play at Trabuco Hills on Wednesday at 3 p.m.

Sage Hill 12, Saddleback 1

Senior Chris Goul went three for three and earned the save pitching three shutout innings for the Lightning in the Newport Elks Tournament game Monday.

Senior Brian Slaughter got the start and the win going four strong innings yielding only one run on three hits while striking out six.

Parker Reposa hit a two-run blast in the first to get things rolling and Henry Damour went two for three with a double for Sage Hill (3-3).

The Lightning plays host to Calvary Chapel Santa Ana Wednesday at 3 p.m.

Nogales 6, Estancia 5

The Eagles (1-2) scored three runs in the top of the seventh, but Nogales notched two runs in the bottom of the frame in the Newport Elks Tournament game Tuesday.

Tyler Ross pitched five innings, giving up four runs on fiive hits.

Connor Brown was one for four with a run, two RBIs and a double.

Aaron Boaitey was two for four. Jeff Alai was one for four with two RBIs and Brian Rodriguez was one for four with two runs.

Estancia plays host to Western Wednesday at 3 p.m.

Oxford Academy 17, Costa Mesa 0

James Solano went two for two for the Mustangs in the Newport Elks Tournament game Monday.

John Koskela went one for three with a double, while Grady Connors (walk) and Chris Richardson also went one for three for Costa Mesa, which plays host to Santa Ana Valley Wednesday at 3 p.m.

BOYS’ LACROSSE

Mira Costa 8, Newport Harbor

John Mooers and Alex Fuller scored two goals each for the Sailors in the nonleague game Tuesday.

Fuller also had two assists for Newport Harbor.
